Stephanie Shacter enjoys telling stories through photographs and multimedia projects. She studied photojournalism at the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications and contributed her variety of skills to student publications and local newspapers. She infused her voice into magazine-style articles at The Shpiel, a Jewish student publication, where she later became photo editor. She then took her photography and video skills to The North Florida Herald, a weekly publication covering the small towns of North Central Florida. This experience helped her gain a position at The Gainesville Sun as multimedia intern where she produced same-day video news stories for Gainesville.com and shot photographs for the following day's printed newspaper.
After graduation, she jumped into the fast-growing world of online media. As editorial intern at the fastest-growing parenting magazine, Babble.com, she learned tricks of the online media trade from a talented team of editors, and even got one of her blog posts mentioned by The New York Times. Aside from working in online media, she assisted an experienced studio photographer, Tamara Staples, in shooting show chickens for Staples's second book.
Stephanie just finished up as the social pages administrator at About.com where she was key in the mass social page creation initiative. She helped to create Facebook fan pages and Twitter accounts for About.com's 800 topic sites.
Her interests include in-depth multimedia projects, documentary and fine-art photography. She takes every opportunity to travel and produce photo stories and multimedia projects where she visits, using social media along the way.
She is in Fort Lauderdale and available for assignment.
